Failure, it sucks.

It feels … well embarrassing because everyone around you are full time winners – right?

Social media super stars, Instagram perfection, webinar conversions and sky rocketing sales.

Yes, it looks good….  But… it’s a lie – it is simply not true.

I know its old hat but Edison failed how many times before he invented the light bulb? One Thousand!

How many readjustments did the space shuttle make to get to the moon, how often were they NOT on track?  Only MOST of the time!

In Michael Jordan’s own words “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life”

What are you continuously failing at?

How many times have you experienced that sinking stomach feeling when you have failed and everything has gone wrong again?  How many times have you talked about your goal to your friends and family, your peers and colleagues… oh yes, they are sick of hearing about it just as much as you are sick of failing and listening to yourself.  Think of that sad look you give them, the apologies the excuses, the justification for failing… once again.

WAKE UP!  It doesn’t have to be this way and you can say goodbye to failure for good.

One simple mindset shift can have you reframing your failure to the point you will be shouting them to the world.

Every stuff up, all the failures and mistakes are a kick arse way to reach your goals.

The Japanese don’t have a word for problem, instead, the most closely translated word is unexpected opportunity.  The opportunity to do it differently next time and as Samuel Beckett once said “Fail, fail again, fail better”

Fail Forward.

Every failure brings you closer to finding out what is the way to overcome your struggle, whether it be in business or life.

Failing forward is a mindset that will dramatically change the way you look at your success.  That hour you look back on and think is wasted – well now you know what doesn’t work when it comes to your productivity.  That New Year’s exercise program you started last week and you dropped yesterday – yep that’s not the way to do it either.

Look; the logic is we are human and despite what your 5000 friends on social media tell you, we all fail and we all make mistakes – not one offs or every now and then – constantly – every single day, multiple times a day.

It is in our nature, so why fight it?

Embrace it, celebrate the unexpected opportunities and fail forward.

While you may be failing remember you are still moving forward and becoming closer to your goal.

If we are not making mistakes we are not living and the only true failure is if you stop trying.

So pick yourself up, fail forward, and “go get-em”!

The Location Independent Work Style – Traps for New Players

For three years I have been working solidly to create a workstyle that allows me to be productive, add value to my clients and work in whatever location I find myself.

Keeping my vision front of mind I regularly read articles on digital nomads and the challenges and solutions for remote working.   There were many helpful articles informing me about phone plans, internet providers and cool co-working places around the world.  However, like most things in life, until you get out and do it, it’s just theory.

Just recently – I achieved my dream!  (Can I get a high five?)   Very quickly I learned what can happen if you are not prepared and organised for this type of workstyle and some of the bare basics that no one spoke about in all the articles I read.

This is what is commonly known as ‘Traps for New Players”

Sure, most of it is pretty obvious stuff, however If this type of workstyle is a dream for you too, whether it be in the same city as your office, a different state, or different country even, here is what I found.  I hope it helps you achieve your dream too.

Firstly – Go Do It!  It is really easy to be in a new location and still sit and work at your desk in an apartment all day.  True you are location independent, but really?  This is not why anyone creates this lifestyle.

The dream is to be in a new city, explore the surroundings, and experience the differences.  You are not going to achieve that sitting behind a desk in a room with four walls.

After one week of being ‘apartment bound’ you will realise very quickly that to live the dream you have to create for yourself a way to explore the city while still being productive; otherwise you are working isolated 9-5 then becoming are too tired to go out and explore every evening of the week and start leaving it for the weekend.  There is no way that is the vision, and there is a better way!

I suggest setting yourself a goal of working somewhere different and enjoyable every day.  For me, yesterday it was the botanic gardens overlooking a lake, today is a coffee shop (it’s raining).

Act like you are going to work.  Get up, do your morning routine and leave the apartment.  Embrace sharing the morning commute whether it be by foot or public transport with the thousands of other city workers heading off to work between four walls.   This is your daily opportunity to realise you are ‘living the dream’ (pat yourself on the back and try to avoid the smug smile).  Not only will you get a boost of motivation, it will spur you on to be the best you can be for the day.

Purchase a good and more critically, comfortable back pack –it is painful to have a zip or strap digging in your back every time you walk.  Like a pebble in your shoe, it may start of small but by the end of the day you will be cursing.  Oh, and while we are on shoes – make sure they are comfortable too you will find you are doing more walking than what you do on an average 9-5 commute.

Chunk your time and move!   Your brain needs a break every couple of hours so working for 2-3 hours on a task and then moving location, whether it be a brisk walk or a quick ride on public transport to your next location is an easy way to see the sights.  The act of moving and discovering new things will free up your mind, increase your productivity and sky rocket your creativity.

Take a snack.  For me it’s a piece of fruit.  Remember you are not in the office or home, you can’t just duck to the lunchroom or fridge to wade off a hunger pain while you are finishing off an important task.

Don’t forget to drink.  Weather you find it while you are out or your own water is important. It keeps your brain hydrated and being in a different city with different weather can put your body into over drive, so be sure to nourish it.  Personally my preference is to take it with me unless I am in a country where it’s necessary to drink filtered water.

Leading on from water, self-explanatory, and important…. know where the toilets are! Take note of public toilets and get yourself a good map of the city you are in.  Depending on your location you may want to pack tissues too.

Make sure all your devices are fully charged – there is nothing worse than working in the flow to be interrupted by a battery low message!   Purchase a portable charger – these are pretty inexpensive and hold a lot of charge.  Great for charging your mobile phone battery which gets chewed up quickly when using it as a hot-spot.  Oh and finally check all your charging chords before leaving home.  If you have multiple devices it’s easy to pick up the wrong one. Check and double check to avoid the frustration of being out and needing to plug into a charger only to find you have the incorrect chord.

Lastly, as a failsafe, take a notepad and pen, reading or work you can achieve off line.  If all fails on the computer front nothing beats doing work the old fashioned way and you are still productive.

If you’re anything like me, you grew up watching Sex and the City, no my parents weren’t that irresponsible (although Pretty Woman was a family favorite!). 😉

SATC came out in June 1998, when I was 17 and starting my second year in College, my best friend (Gonzo) and I would snuggle up in our PJs on my single bed and drink beer hiding from our parents! We’d giggle and dream that one day when we grew up our lives would be that glamorous and flying all over the world!

The other night after one of the longest, but best and most exciting years in my business to-date, I decided to switch off with some Netflix in bed and I turned on Sex and the City: The Movie, as I watched the intro I had this overwhelming feeling of gratitude, and I realized I have created this lifestyle for myself!

They have a rock solid group of amazing friends who support one another, throughout the highs (and lows – poor Carrie, I had to turn off I couldn’t bare to see her being jilted at the altar by BIG again!!)
They talk about everything – nothing is off limits, they’re honest with each other, and they work through their issues like pros.
They support each other in their businesses. Plus they’re all super successful in their own way!
They have so much fun, they laugh, cry, dress in stunning clothes, drink cocktails and travel the world and stay at beautiful high-vibe locations!

OMG I have that- that’s my life too?!

Wow, I am ridiculously lucky and literally living out my dream!

But all this would NEVER have happened if I had stayed in my little world, with a “normal” 9-5 job working away 50+ hours a week!

The transformation started when I stepped up and decided to join a high level program, surrounded by like minded individuals that support me no matter what and that opened my eyes to the lifestyle and business that was really possible for me (and not just for those ‘other’ people, that were slimmer/prettier/richer/better connected/more tech savvy/further ahead than me!!)

It helped me rewrite my money story (and even realize I had one!), I learned so much, I didn’t even know I needed to learn, I up-leveled my life and business faster than I ever dreamed possible, for example, I hadn’t even considered I needed to move house, to a bigger place with an office or that I could have an assistant, Social media, graphic designer, mentor, and best of all that I could HELP OTHER LADIES change the quality of their lives TOO! I hadn’t even considered most it, never mind even started to think I could have it and do it too!

I have traveled the world and stayed in some of the most stunning places I’ve ever been. And I met women in person that have become life-long friends!

I have been on many different seminar stages around the world and helped trained thousands of students… I have met wonderful and successful entrepreneurs, see if you can recognize some of the faces below like Ivan Misner, T Harv Eker, Ted Thomas, Mike Filsaime, Raymond Aaron, JT Foxx, Alex Mandossian… to name a few…

6 Ways to make 2016 the best year ever!
 
I came across this wonderful article from the awesome Amanda Gore which totally spoke to me as I am sure will do to you too!!!
 
1. Reframe 2015 with gratitude
Look back on everything that happened in 2015 and consciously choose to find something good in every thing that happened.
Some will be easy. Look back at the challenges and explore

what happened from the ‘benefit of hindsight’ – and work out what was the lesson in it for you. If you are thinking – ‘there was no lesson – it was nothing to do with me – it was all rubbish’ or anything along those lines – you may want to reflect on it a little more!

 
There are ALWAYS lessons for us in everything that happens to us and around us. Be grateful for all of them – good or challenging. Gratitude is the master reframer  and will help you reprogram your cellular memory! 

 
2. Create what you want for 2016
If you want to have a positive and wonderful year – see it beforehand! Imagine it. Create a story that supports it. You may not be able to design specific events but you can vividly imagine the sorts of things you would like to have happen! We often make lists at new year with resolutions and things were are going to do differently and they are mostly forgotten by February! 
 
Instead, why not imagine you are a movie maker and you are writing an outline for a movie? You have the theme, you know the gist of the movie, you know how you want it to end up – but you leave the details to be filled in at a later time. 
 
Giving your unconscious mind some direction like this allows it to keep running in the background, engineering things to make that movie reality!
 
3. Make symbols or a vision board 

Go and make or buy some symbols of what you want to have happen in 2016.
If it’s a fabulous holiday – buy or make something that symbolises the destination.
If it’s a change in your relationship, buy a heart shaped something and put it where you look at it every day; if it’s a dream you have to start your own business, create a vision board with images of all the aspects you can think of that make your success something you can see. 
Put your symbols and vision board in placesyou see it every day – several times to impress on your subconscious the direction you want!
 
4. Be present
One of my best friends who is an astonishing person says that her life purpose is to be fully present in every moment!  It’s so easy to say! She is very psychic and another friend of ours asked her if she wanted to look into her future and see what was ahead. The answer was ‘no!. Because every moment is to be lived in and enjoyed as it presents!’ 
Living for the future – or living in the past – are both habits and patterns that keep us trapped! Being present, open to what is happening right here, right now, is the secret to enjoying every moment – even if it is an uncomfortable moment!
 
5. YOU are responsible for everything that happens in your world
This is a tricky one to actually get our heads around! 
 
Your thinking creates your reality. Let me say that again – your thinking creates your reality
 
The ‘lenses’ through which you see the world and everything that happens to you determine literally what you will ‘see’. It’s not the ‘truth’ or actual reality or the whole picture, but it will be your reality. How is it that 4 people who all see the same accident or event will have 4 different versions of it – and ALL of them will totally believe they are telling the truth and describing what actually happened?
 
Perceptions – that’s how! We don’t see, we perceive and judge. The stories you tell yourself will eventually show up in your life. 
 
6. What environment do you want to create for yourself?
Bruce Lipton in his excellent book ‘The Biology of Belief’ says we are all ‘skin covered petrie dishes’ and that the environment we create inside our bodies – the culture in which our cells bathe every day, all day, is determined by our minds. Our mindsets – our beliefs, our repeated thoughts. 
 
Is your petrie dish full of love and joy – or is it full of fear, anger, resentment and habits and patterns of thinking that have us looking for the worst in everything? Do you tell yourself – ‘I attract idiots’; ‘I am not good enough’; ‘I am not worth loving’; ‘I always …..’; ‘good things never happen to me’; ‘just my luck..’. Are these the things you want to program into every cell in your body? 
 
STOP…OBSERVE your thinking and thoughts ….CHOOSE wisely and replace them with either neutral or positive phrases. CHANGE your environment. 
Paint a picture of what an environment that would nurture you would look like. What would make it safe? Joyful? Happy? Fulfilling? Satisfying? Rewarding? Exciting?  This may take time but it’s a worthwhile exercise!
 
Awareness and consciousness changes everything – it gives you choices. When you become aware of the patterns that are ruling your thinking –  work on yourself to identify and remove the old habits; find someone to help you; contact me and I can give you some details of our upcoming amasssing ladies retreat and how it can help YOU!. 
 
We usually need the help – it’s very hard for most of us to be so aware of our deeply unconscious, ingrained patterns and habits that we can see, let alone change them!

WHO is the one that will trigger you to seek insights into yourself? 
 
WHO will change your world so it allows you to live an amasssing life?
 
YOU CAN’T DO IT ON YOUR OWN, & IF YOU DON’T CHANGE ANYTHING, NOTHING WILL CHANGE FOR YOU!!!
